Dr. Ian Fingerman leads the branch in supporting and directing research defining the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of tumorigenesis and mechanisms of chemical and physical carcinogenesis. He manages a portfolio of grants focusing on genetic variation in cancer and noncoding RNAs (e.g., miRNAs), as well as applications with large scale, whole "omics" approaches. 

Dr. Fingerman enjoys staying up-to-date on the latest basic science research and engaging the public through scientific outreach.  

In addition to his work for DCB, Dr. Fingerman is a member of the Data Management and Sharing Working Group - “Genomics and other Omics."

Background

Before coming to DCB, he worked as a project lead on a database for epigenetic and epigenomic data sets at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
