Ophira Ginsburg, MD, MSc, Center for Global Health’s (CGH) Senior Scientific Officer, Senior Advisor for Clinical Research, will be recognized with the ASCO 2022 Humanitarian Award on June 4, at their Annual Meeting, in Chicago, IL. Dr. Ginsburg will receive this award for her exceptional service and leadership in the U.S. and abroad, during the “Mentorship and Career Development Roundtable: A Discussion with ASCO’s Special Award Recipients” session. Impact of COVID-19 on Cervical Cancer Screening in Low- and Middle-Income Countries
This International Cancer Screening Network webinar, taking place on Tuesday, April 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. ET, is an opportunity for the screening community to learn about, and reflect on, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cervical cancer screening, specifically in low- and middle- income countries, where people are at an increased risk for cervical cancer.

Dr. Ophira Ginsburg, CGH senior advisor for clinical research, will chair this American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) session, Applying an Equity Lens to Implementation Research: A Pathway to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities, and present an overview of global oncology and implementation science, joined by speakers who will discuss implementation research priorities in global oncology and make an evidence-informed case for embedding an equity lens into implementation research methods.

Systems Thinking Approach in Implementation Science: Understanding the Layers of Health Inequity at AACR 2022
Dr. Patti Gravitt, CGH Deputy Director, will present a "Systems Thinking Approach in Implementation Science: Understanding the Layers of Health Inequity," at the AACR session, "Implementation Science: Efforts to Improve Cancer Health Equity." The session will explore why applying a health equity lens to implementation science is crucial to achieving maximum impact on cancer control, how a systems approach in designing implementation research can illuminate high leverage, cross-cutting implementation strategies, and how rigor and reproducibility can be maintained using pragmatic designs. Sessions are virtual and in person.

Dr. Satish Gopal will present "Perspectives from the United States National Cancer Institute" at the multidisciplinary symposium, The Soul of Medicine in the Last Year of Life: Novel Solutions to Palliative Care Access Across Economic and Cultural Divides. The 3-day Symposium is focused on solutions to optimize the balance between biomedicine and the humanistic and culturally sensitive care of individuals with advanced disease and at the end-of-life.
